What’s Happening Inside Our Vanilla Bottles? A Peek Into the Slow Magic
We’re about six weeks into the steeping process of our homemade vanilla extract — and while we still have months to go, this is when things start to shift.
The color is deepening.
The aroma is developing.
And every gentle shake brings us closer to the bold, full-bodied vanilla we’ve been waiting for.
🕰 Why We Wait
Vanilla extract isn’t something you can rush. The alcohol needs time to draw out all the flavor compounds from the beans — and there are over 200 of them in a single vanilla pod.
At this stage, the scent is warm and promising, but the flavor is still early. That’s exactly how it should be. We’re letting the process unfold naturally — no heat, no additives, no shortcuts.
Just real beans, quality alcohol, and patience.
👀 What We’re Seeing So Far
We’re keeping a close eye on each jar — shaking weekly and storing them away from light. Some of the changes we’ve noticed so far:
The color has gone from pale amber to rich brown
The scent is turning from sharp to round and soft
Each alcohol type is starting to show its own character (bourbon is warming up beautifully)
We’ll share some side-by-side visuals soon so you can see the transformation too.

We’re not quite ready to sell (we still have a long way to go!) — but we’re documenting the full process from start to finish. If you're curious, excited, or want first dibs when it’s ready…
